..It is getting closer.

You know when you can feel Summer getting closer that everything like grades, work effort, and your to do list just goes stright down the hill? Well that is where I am at. We only have three more times in class before finals and I can feel the home strech! I am pretty exicted because I really only have two finals this semester. I am trying really hard the last few days to get everything done, and make sure I know what all my grades are going to be. I am also pretty exicted to pick out my classes for next semester...even though I am not exicted to take speech at all. I hate talking infront of a large group of people I dont know. But I gotta face my fears one way or another.

Has anyone taken speech before? Is it has bad as they say?

So I have a variety of jobs….

My first job is an ESP teacher a Whiteside, at this job; we take the kids outside to play, color, do crafts for the holidays coming up. We also go play board games, and games in the gym. Every Friday is my favorite day because we have our daily snack, go outside for about 20 minutes and then the other ESP teachers and I take our kids inside and we watch movies. How awesome is it being able to get paid and watch movies? LOVE IT. Sometimes it makes me wonder what I was like as a little kid…some of those kids are out there though, and some are kind of annoying? What were you like when you were little?

My Second Job is Belleville parks and Rec. At this job title, I coach soccer, or keep scoring at baseball, softball, or volleyball games if they need someone to cover, other than that I sit at a desk and play on my laptop and facebook for so many hours that people are using the building for. You may think it sounds fun but believe it or not, sitting at a desk for hours with the internet can be somewhat boring. If I get to bored, I always end up shooting basketballs around in the gym or catching up on homework.

& for the third job I work at Marco’s on main & Shenanigans bar & Grill. They are connected and have the same owner. At Marco’s on main I am a waitress. This is an Italian restaurant with great food. It is kind of a small place but that means better service and sometimes better food. The pizza there is amazing. Although I did not hear of this place until I started working there but I would still recommended it. The only downside is cleaning up after everyone is gone, or some of the men get a little too drunk and try to flirt with you, but I guess it makes for better the tip the more drunk they are.

When i grow up....

So as many of you may of heard, they are really cutting back the teachers at schools around this area & in many other places. At Whiteside Elementry school they let go of 11 teachers and 1 Custodian. My cousin Kelly who works as a math teacher at Belleville East High School said they are letting go of 22 different teachers, all first and second year. Good thing she is a third year teacher!

But my concern for this is I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. I Have been working with kids for three years now and every day it is something new. I have worked at Bellevalley North as an ESP teacher in the mornings for a year, and then Whiteside Elementry also as an ESP teacher for two, and then soccer coaching 3-5 year olds.

I have always just wanted to work with kids and doing something that helps them, but no im not so sure if I should keep trying to be a teacher, or switch my major since they are cutting back so many teachers.

OFFSETS...

For those of you who loves lakes, and being out doors have you ever tried jumping off cliffs? Those pictures above are from the offsets in Farmington, Missouri also called Mine La Motte. Jumping off cliffs may not seem so safe but there are no boats in the water or anything so all you will really need is some friends and a life jacket.

The Offsets were once used as a mine but now it simply a place for the locals to come and swim or dive. The site is popular not only as a swimming hole and a recreational dive, but cave divers can explore several overhead environments. A C-card is required for recreational divers, and cave divers, too, must show proof of their specialty education !

I have gone off cliffs before but i have never been to this one. A bunch of friends & family are going in a few weeks, i cant wait!

SUPERCROSS !

This weekend I attended Supercross. For those who do not know what that is it is dirt bike racing. This is only my second year in a row going but it is always fun. Before the event begins at 7p.m. we get there and tailgate and bbq, hang out and play washers around 11. It is great because it is all friends having a good time. One of my favorite things about the event is during intermission, they get a big ramp out in the dirt and some of the racers do tricks on them. The tricks included doing flips off of their bikes in mid-air and then getting back on, no hands, going to the front of the bike or hanging upside down. All are very cool to see but sometimes it makes me nerves because if they fell, well they'd be badly hurt. We take place in getting the wave going around. It is fun to see so many people at a time doing it and just going in a big old circle around the place a few tmes. Im looking forward to seeing all the neat stuff for supercross 2011 !

Summer is comming soon!

The weather is getting nice and that means summer time is headed this way. Im so thrilled I can hardly wait because I have many exicting things to do this summer.

--One big exicting thing that I am doing this summer is going to Jamaica for one week in the summer with my one of my sisters and some mutal friends.

--Another event that is suppose to take place is that My older Sister christina is suppose to have her second child at the end of August. She is naming her Macey Faith. She is more than likely to be premature so I am hoping all goes well for the new baby andmy sister.

--As far as monthly events, My friends and I have summer float trips planned and Camping trips planned throught the course of the summer. When everyone gets together it is always fun..and never a dull moment.

-I did however get an offer has being a nanny for a few weeks out of the summer and I would get to travel the country with the family at no cost to me, and get paid cash daily. I haven't really made up my mind if I would like to do that..But it would be nice to travel to places Ive never seen.

My Top Favorite Places In the World.

1) Bahamas ! - This has to be my number one choice because everything is so pretty and everyone seems so nice there. Whenever I was there, i was about chest high in the water and i could look down and see my feet still in the ocean. All the beaches were amazing and there was so much neat stuff that you could chose from to do.

2) Grandma's house ! - Yes i know this sounds cheesey but it is really one of my favorite places to go and visit. She has lived in the same house all of my life and if she moved it just would not be the same. I have so many childhood memorys there. Her hosue is int he middle of nowhere, her nearest nieghboor is about 5 miles down a rock road. The best part of it is, she is an amazing cook and I feel as if im in hevean because everything is so darn good !

3) Anywhere on a lake !- I love boating, tubbing, jet skiing, and just laying out and catching some sun. I think just being on a lake so peaceful and can put anyones minds to ease & have a great time. My favorite is going over other peoples waves either on a tube or even the boat !

Sunshine, who doesn't love it? I can not name any. This weekend was full of it, and I loved every mintue of it.

I enjoyed the weekend by first taking the children outside at whiteside to play most of the time I was at work & then we came inside for the last 45 mintues and watched movie. After i got off work at 5:30 some people and I went out to dinner and had a great time. After Dinner a different group of friends and I, went and saw Alice in Wonder land 3 d ! It was my first 3d movie so I had a great time.

Saturday was the best day of them all, I woke up and went to work only for two hours and i was in a great mood, and then after I had got off work, We had a girl's day out, Most of my aunts, & cousins and my sister and her child olivia all went out to lunch and shopped. It was a great time, and the sunshine was out all day long. After shopping, my sister and I had went back to my mom's house with my niece and played side walk chalk. It was mostly my sister & I doing all the coloring but Olivia just told us what to draw and she loved it. After we were outside in the sun for about 45 mintues, my mom came home and decided to take our her new Shelby GT converitable and go for a ride with the girls, dont get me wrong, my mom loves squealing the tired and going fast and my niece loved it. She kept telling everyone to put her hands up & go faster. On our tour of the city with the top down, we stopped and had some icecream. What great sunday day wouldnt be complete with out that? After goign for a ride around the town, we came back and did more side walk chalk, and then I was off to work. I worked for only 3 hours and made 80 dollars in tips which worked for me.

Sunday was my relax day. I worked basically morning and then later that night, hung out with a group of friends at my house watched movies and played some games that got pretty funny & exicting.

My weekend was pretty much great !

--Running a little late.

Have you ever had those days were everything could go wrong in the morning possibly does? Yup, that was me this morning. I somehow slept threw my alarm going off, and woke up 7:45am when i usually leave the house around 7:40. So naturally i through on whatever close i yank from the closet or my dresser first and on they go, no time for hair or makeup really. I auto start my car from the window because I dont want it to be freezing in when i get in my car. In the process of getting dressed I realized my throat was hurting pretty bad and thats a sign of me getting sick. So i rush down the stairs and out to my car and hope in the car where i find my gas light is still on from yesterday afternoon, I know i could not have made it all the way to school so i have to stop for some gas which puts me even farther behind and Im late for class. I can just tell it is not going to be a good rest of the day. Sometimes i wish i can go back to bed and start my day over on days like this..dont you?

Kids say the darnest things!

So one of my jobs is an ESP teacher at Whiteside Elementry. I work with k-8th grade, and let me just say, some of these kids are CRAZY. There is never a boring day at the job. When most of the kids are gone, some of the kids like to play what we the kids call " Circle therpy", this is where we sit in a circle around the gym floor and we let the kids ask a question and then everyone in the circle goes around answering. Now some of these kids give real answers, others..well not so much. One of the questions the other day was, "what did you eat for breakfast", everyone answers, or says i cant remeber, and then we have this little boy named brandon with bizzare answers such as "rocks, elephants toe nails, and forks" Sometimes i dont know where he comes up with this stuff without smiling. Another question will be "what is your favorite color, once again we will go around and everyone will answer, and then kids make up names for all their favorite colors combined. Alot of the times it will be wierd answers such as redrange "red & orange"...

Sometimes i wonder if i was that crazy as a kid too, what about you?

Snow, Sleeding, Sneezing and Scarfs!

Winter Time..

Winter time, some love it and others hate it. I am somewhere right around the middle. I believe winter has it's up's and down's. I think the snow is pretty, but it makes me angry when it snow's and its freezing but it doesnt stick or stay on the ground. If it's gonna snow, then really snow && when that happpens, SNOWDAY! I usually go sleeding and things the first big snow of the winter and then im over it. It's so cold out there going down getting snow stuck to you, and its alot of work to keep walking up at that giant hill just to slip right back down because your snow boots arent really snow boots, just for style. lol

There is alot to do in winter but only really when it snows, sking, sleeding, snowman, snow angels, seeing people slip and fall (only if its not you) and the snowball fights when your least expecting it..and of course theres christimas and new years, but is it really worth the 3-4 months of cold!

Bad things about winter: colds, flu, many car accidents, having to clean of your car off or starting it so you dont freeze. Everytime winter rolls around, im so ready for the warm weather to come back!

In class we had to pick a qoute from Writing to chang the world. I chose this quote because it is simple, short and stright to the point. This quote means to me that each person is just one person in the huge world and that each person is inter connected with one another.

It is also saying that humanity is like a wb that encompasses all things human.

I like this quote because i think it is true and it is reinforcing how big the world really is and how each leaf refers to a person or a family and how small it is compared to the rest of the world. It is saying how a person is just drop of water in a big thunder storm.

A Little About Me !

Life:

My names Kimberley, but i also go by Kim. I do have a nickname which would be Kimmee. The only people that really call me Kimmee are my sisters and their friends. I got this because when we were all little it was to hard for two year olds to say Kimberley.

Besides going to school, I also work everyday. My employers are Mark Onstont which i work at shenangians bar & Resturant, & Marcos on main which is an Itailan Resturant. At these places i am a cocktail waitress & a waitress. The money is great but sometimes the nights are long. My other employers are Whiteside Elementry School as an ESP teacher & The City of Belleville as a soccer coach for 3-5 year olds and as an building monitor at the nichols community center. (This one i basically sit at a desk and finsh up all my homework and play on the computer.)

Vounteer work! :

For volunteer work I have participated two years in the ginger bread run; and one year in tour de belleville and March of Dimes. The Ginger bread run is held every decemeber in downtown Belleville and for vounteers you guide the people where to run, or work at water station incase the runners get thirsty! The Tour De Belleville is held every year in July and instead of running, people ride bikes all around Belleville, this is held at night so you hold flash lights and direct traffic and cheer on the bikers. It's alot more fun than you think & you get free tshirt ! March of dime is far most my favorite thing to vounteer for because my neice olivia is a premie baby. She was three months early and born at a one lbs and 15 ounces! I walk every march & help raise money for her and other babies that are premature.

Education & Career goals:

I graduated from Belleville East Highschool in may of 2009. I started attending SWIC in fall 2009 and I'm still here. I'm mostly getting my gen eds out of the way and my goal is to be at SIUE next fall. I'm going to school because in my future i would love to be a elementry school teacher. That woud be my dream job because with kids, its a different thing everyday.

Course Goals:

During English 102, my goals are to learn how to blog, I've never have before and it seems like a fun thing to do, even if its not for a class it can still let you get stuff off your chest and tell about fun things you may experince. Another problem that I want to acchieve this semester in english would be to get more experince at writting college papers on topics that i am intersted and do well on them.

Writing:

When it comes to writing, i like to mainly stay in the area of topics that i am familar with. I like doing this because the more i know on a topic the better i feel the paper or article will be. The only other thing that i would feel confident about writing would be a topic that i felt strongly about and could research all the information that i do not know.

3 words to describe me:

I think that the the three best words to desribe me would be caring, outgoing and nice. I am caring because I care about helping other people out in times of need when they can not help themselves and I care about creatures and animals. One time i ran over a possum and felt quite bad about it for almost three days. Kinda pathtic i know. haha. I am nice because i never judge people right away and i take time to get to know people and Im never really mean. Outgoing runs in my family I think. Most of the time I am ready to do whatever people have in mind that night and i love to have a good time when going out!

Books:

I enjoy reading many different types of books as long as they catch my attention and keep me wanting to know what happens next. The last book i read was called "Another place at the table" which was Foster Family taking in kids and falling in love with many of them and adopting them. The novel told the hardships and great times the family had together. My top three favorite books are "The five people you meet in heaven", "A glass Castle" and "A painted house".
